The Home of the 2009 Leicestershire & Rutland Athletic Association Under 11 Sportshall Club Champions

Update Saturday 23 January
Both our secondary and primary years athletes were in action this weekend with the Leicestershire Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship at Ratcliffe College taking centre stage.
In the Year 7 girls Tegan Allen kept up her busy schedule fresh from her selection for the Leicestershire & Rutland AA Under 13 Sportshall team to contest next weeks Regional Championships. Over the country test Tegan ran with her usual consistency to place 7th.
In the Junior Boys race Jack Williams continues to show improvement which is a reward for some very committed training of late with an excellent 5th place and third in his age group. In the same race Luke Mathers (14th) and Harry Short (18th) gave their usual gutsy and dependable performances.
In the intermediate boys test Jamie Short ran his usual solid race to again place 6th in this very competitative age group but there was also a seasons best for Chris Parkes Bowen in 11th place a fine effort following an injury distrupted winter campaign.
Not to be forgotten the club made a 11th hour decision to lay on a handicap race for its junor members following yet another cancellation of the county primary schools league at Leicester’s Western Park. A testing three quarter of a mile circuit around Fleckney’s Millenium Wood, which often serves as a training route, was marked up and the two lap event which featured two tough hill climbs per circuit allowed athletes from School Year 3 upwards to compete with a one minute handicap allowed for each successive year. Although due to the late notice a number of juniors were unavailable those who took part had a excellent mornings sport.
