Welcome to our section for Youth Athletics serving from School Year 2 through to School Year 11. Generally by the time our athletes are 15/16 years of age they are ready to train in the Senior ranks although this is still governed to some extent by distance and choice of terrain.
At Primary School Years level - school years 2 to 6 our girls train as The Fleckney & Kibworth Vixens whilst the boy’s go by The Fleckney & Kibworth Panthers. The meeting for this group is Saturday mornings 11:30am at Fleckney Recreation Ground Leicester Road. Occasionally the Years 5/6 will split off to work under cross country conditions in Fleckney Millenium Woods.
For our High/Upper School Years groups - School Years 7 to 11 we now offer 2 x sessions per week. Tuesday is usually devoted to shorter quality work. From March to September this takes place once again at Fleckney Rec at 6pm. From October through to February this group can join our senior sessions either at Oadby Beauchamp College or fortnightly on Monday’s at Saffron Lane Track.
The second weekly session for this group is an uncompromising 3.5 mile circuit around Smeeton Gorse a series of ridgeway paths between Saddington and Gumley. The group meets on Saturday mornings at 0930 behind The Sailing Club HQ on Saddington Reservoir. This is a steady state endurance session with the facility to learn and develop the uphill and downhill techniques essential to progress in cross country racing.
If your son or daughter is interested in joining please contact our head coach Dave Wheeler - david.wheeler2@sky.com, please note we only take parental email addresses for athletes under 16.
We are joining the Derby Runner Cross Country league from October 2009 and are on a waiting list to join a track & field league

Spring & Summer Programme
Following a succesful winter it is now time to enter a new cycle of the training year with the emphasis on sprint and middle distance events depending upon the age and ambitions of the athlete. Our key session will be for our newly reformatted “Youth Development Group” at 6PM on Tuesday nights. Here recently qualified level two coach Claire Beach will join head coach Dave Wheeler working with young athletes from school year six helping them prepare for the schools athletic season.
On Saturday mornings at 09:00 older members of this group will continue with their weekly endurance session on Smeeton Grose whilst at 11:00 the primary years group will meet in a more fun based session.
