The club have achieved a lot in the past month, making the most of better weather and lighter evenings.
We were proud to support our group of Couch to 5K runners in their final runs; some ‘graduated’ at Market Harborough Parkrun, others completed in their own time. We are pleased to have welcomed several new members to the club following the programme.
Pete Bennett took up the solo mantle at the Cambridge Half Marathon, achieving a PB at 1:29:33. Pete Bennett also tackled the Ashby 20, being the only club member to represent and finished in an excellent time of 02:26:09 and 159th position.
The second Leicestershire Road Running League event was on home turf; along with the Road Hogg club, we hosted the Kibworth 6 on March 19th. Many of the club members supported by marshalling the event, ensuring the race went smoothly. We had some members tackle the hills and race alongside 534 club runners from around the county. Noel Houlihan was first in for the club (00:41:19), next Pete Bennett (00:42:17), Adam Niblett (00:47:37), Louise Fernand (00:49:25), Barbara Blunt (00:58:21), Jo Raine (01:06:10), Steve West (01:07:54), Emily Pierce (01:14:33). Tracey Coates and Jenny Mcnair supported as tail runners. The next league race will be the Bosworth Half Marathon on 7th May.
Another solo venture was undertaken by Steve West at the Leamington Spa 10k race, with a finish time of 1:05:43.
Finally, the club members and families were proud to join forces with Kibworth Easy Riders, to take part in theKibworth Duathlon in aid of LOROS. The whole event was a great challenge for all and well supported for this worthy cause. Many thanks to all involved.
