March 2023: Press Report

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

It’s been a busy start to the spring running season for Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club.

The Derby Runner Cross Country came to an end this month. With Ravenstone in February and the final race at Bosworth on 7th March. Steve West, Bernie Owen, Andy Kemp, Emma Boyd and Jude Hughes took part in Ravenstone. Bernie and Jude were joined by Tracey Coates and Jenny McNair for Bosworth.

In other news the Leicestershire Road Running League kicked off with the Stilton 7. Pete Bennett (47.48), Abby Jackson (57.16), Jim Hawley (58.14), Emma Boyd (01.08.26) and Steve West (01.13.27) made appearances. The club looks forward to hosting the 2nd race in the league, the Kibworth 6, on Sunday 19th March.

We’ve had club members take part in plenty of other local, and further afield races. Sam Pole in the Long Mynd Valleys fell race came 65th place in the first English Championship race of the year, covering 11.5 miles with 4500ft of elevation.

Alan Gibson (01.59.18) and Jonny Morgan (01.39.28) in the Leicestershire Half Marathon at Prestwold Hall. Louise Faye in the Northumberland 10k Costal Run and Lorna Muskett (02.33.38) in the Oundle 20.

Alex Prettyman (03.28.14) came an impressive 5th place at the 26.2 mile Belvior Challenge. With John Clampin and Emily Pierce also taking part. Finally, if that wasn’t enough, Tracey Coates took on the Roundhay 50 miler.

Somehow we managed to squeeze in our annual awards event at The Black Horse in Foxton.
